A 21st-Century Approach to Assessing Student Learning within The Context of The Changing Landscape of Higher Education
Developments in higher education over the last 20 years push institutions and programs to support enrolled students’ equitable progress toward achieving high-quality learning outcomes by developing a shared, internally driven, continuous assessment commitment. This keynote identifies major internal and external developments that warrant the call for an on-the-ground, non-stop, living assessment approach. It then identifies the collaborative principles and commitments that underlie a real-time assessment approach that engages faculty, administrators, and the institution’s extended network of experts who also contribute to and support student learning, such as those in academic and support services, advising, library and information resources, and educational technology.
